a perfect fit

You now can find dresses and tops for you little sweetie from upSewn Girl downtown Holland on 8th Street!

Tree Huggers
will be carrying
upSewn Girl!

Tree Huggers is an Earth friendly retail store. They just had a Green Cleaning Workshop that introduces you to making your own cleaners & about the benefits of making your own. You even got to take some home to try!  How cool, right?

Another neat thing TH does is Rain Barrel Workshop where you can learn about storm water runoff and then pick up your own rain barrel!

I love it that they offer free recycling.
Here's their website!

who makes the decisions here, anyway?

these are the days where my two little girls think they make the decisions about most things, so this stop to Africa's Child was no exception. not even sure how many times they pulled out shirts and said,

"mommy, mommy, look! this one is sooo pretty!"

i knew i wasn't getting out of there without a few of their "sooo pretty" picks.
glad to report...this one worked out! yay!!

101 Bits of Summer Fun

Bring on Summer!

I started writing a list of things to do this summer, but found this super cute printout from Laura Winslow Photography. The kids are finishing up at school next week and this just might help me keep the "i'm bored" comments at bay!  Print yourself a copy too!

If you do something on this list, share it on my facebook page. Would love to see your summer fun!
{{I'll have to add one for me...create & sew a new pattern!}}

Daddys and Daughters

The Daddy/Daughter connection is so precious. Songs like "Butterfly Kisses" and poems like the one in the picture try to convey that special bond. I took this picture on Easter this year of my husband and DD#1.

I love knowing that I have created something that has more meaning to the recipient than just fashion, but a memory too.  For lack of better wording, the Daddy-Shirt/Daughter-Dress is just that.

Daddy's button-down shirt is becoming his daughter's dress and a special way to remember that bond.

I am accepting a max 10 orders to be ready by Father's Day.
Please read instructions under "Get my upSewn Girl" tab.

I really need a name for this dress that captures the sentiment behind it...any suggestions??

Third week on Start Garden...a bust. Boo!

And the winner of the first upSewn Girl giveaway is...Selena VK!

The opportunity with Start Garden is really more than the money. It's connecting with the right people about the technology end, the branding part, and organizing(shocker) are not my strongest gifts. I'm a garment creator. That's what I love to do. This funding would rock, but if not I guess its back to this... :-)

I made this dress for E this spring. It was a short sleeved, button down linen shirt of her daddy's. I added a coordinating fabric and elastic to the waist & neck. I used vintage lace her great-grandma gave me to accent the pocket and bow on the middle top.

i am a creative thinker, scheduler and sewer.
i am so not a creative writer.
i wanted a place to share upSewn info, happenings, etc.

so, Welcome!
happy you're here. :-)

sometimes i think "etc" is just used to take up space
or used in case the person forgot something
or has something to add later
no real purpose

not this time!
completely on purpose "etc" was used to mean "giveaway"!
yeah!

check back tonight for all the details...
